James Duprey was a bobsledder and the operator of the Brown Bear Restaurant in Ray Brook.

James Duprey

James Duprey former owner and operator of the Brown Bear Restaurant in Ray Brook and a former operator of the food concession at the Mt. Van Hoevenburg Bobrun, died Thursday morning at Hackensack, N. J.

Mr. Duprey had lived at 100 Prospect Ave., Hackensack for the past eight months and was managing a hotel and restaurant there.

He was born April 3, 1931 in Saranac Lake, a son of Edmond and Adma Moquin Duprey, and graduated from Saranac Lake High School, where he was a football and baseball star, in 1951. From 1951 to 1954 he served in the Air Force. Mr. Duprey also had been a member of the Saranac Lake Bobsled Club.

Survivors are his wife, the former Barbara George, and a daughter, Lory, of Hackensack; two sons by a former marriage James and Mark of Philadelphia; his mother, a brother, Edmond R. of Albany; a sister, Mrs. David (Diane) Dezner of Bridgeport, N. Y.; several nieces and nephews, and several aunts and uncles.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home beginning Saturday evening. The Rosary will be said at 8 p. m. Sunday and a Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in May.
