Catherine Beryl Donaldson Shene

Catherine “Kay” Beryl (Beaney) Donaldson Shene, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2022 at her home in Lake Clear surrounded by family.

Born Aug. 22, 1931 in Dickinson Center, she was the daughter of the late Elmer J. and Catherine “Kitty” (Gray) Beaney.

Kay enjoyed traveling to Nova Scotia in her camper, bowling, reading, spending time with her family and shopping. Catherine had a love for lighthouses and animals, her favorite animals being owls and poodles.

Kay married the late George A. Donaldson, Jr. on March 29, 1948 at the Presbyterian church in Paul Smiths. They resided in Lake Clear. Kay and George went on to have four children, three boys and a daughter. George predeceased Catherine in 1978. Catherine later married Claude J. Shene on Oct. 27, 1979 at the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake. They resided in Lake Clear.

Kay is survived by her sons: George A. Donaldson III, of Saranac Inn, Craig E. Donaldson (Nora) of Lake Clear and her daughter Kim Fitzgerald (Jack) of Lake Clear, as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Kay was predeceased by her parents Elmer and Kitty, her husband George and her second husband Claude, her son Wayne and her loving dog, Misty.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
