Grace Hortense de Fremery (May 4, 1869 - October 3, 1959) was born in Oakland, California, and became a school teacher and later a school principal. She was the daughter of Willem Cornelius Bastian De Fremery and Ellen Ober Campbell de Fremery.
After graduating in 1891 from the University of California at Berkeley in 1891, she went on to earn her Master's degree in mathematics. Grace de Fremery was a charter member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at University of California, Berkeley. She worked for years as a school teacher in various California cities, including Chowchill and San Luis Obispo. While in Chowchilla, she also served as the Principal of the school.
In 1932 Grace de Fremery organized the Defenders of America, was the President of the East Bay League of Women Voters, and was also prominent in the Republican party.
She lived most of her life in the family's 17 room Victorian mansion on seven acres atop a hill close to downtown Oakland, at 77 Fairmount Avenue, with several of her unmarried sisters. The home was "lovingly referred to as "Aunt Hill" because the spinster sisters lived in the house where they were born until the day they all died."
Grace Hortense de Fremery is buried in Mountain View Cemetery.
