The Half Orange was a small restaurant in Fruitvale that featured local food, beer and wine. It was run by Fruitvale resident Jay Porter, who is working on opening another restaurant in Oakland.
The restaurant name comes from the Spanish phrase "mi media naranja" (my half orange), which is a term of endearment to someone saying they are your other half and together you are complete.
They sometimes partnered with nearby businesses like Ale Industries and Nieves Cinco de Mayo.
