Shelley Lake is a 53 acre lake located on the approximate border of Midtown Raleigh and North Raleigh, surrounded by two miles of paved greenway and park space.  Shelley Lake provides diverse recreational opportunities ranging from soccer in the open fields, fishing, walking/running/biking the greenway trails, boating, and exercise stations along the greenway.  Feeding the geese and ducks that gather under the greeway trail bridge on the west side of the lake is a family favorite.

Residents of nearby neighborhoods, including Northclift, Ridgeloch, Briarwood North, Chestnut Hills, and the northern parts of North Hills enjoy accessing the lake via the greenway trails.  The Mine Creek Trail connects Shelley Lake with Crabtree Creek Trail to the south and neighborhoods to the north.  The Snelling Branch Trail connects Shelley Lake with Optimist Park and Sanderson High School.  Other visitors enjoy the ample parking available on Millbrook and at the Sertoma Art Center.
