Golden West Restaurants operated as a chain in California since about 1963. While the storefront sign said "Golden West Restaurants" they were often listed as "Golden West Pancakes" in the phone book. However, the Soquel Avenue location was listed as "Golden West Restaurant."
Golden West Restaurants Inc. is a separate company that started in 1995. They operate food franchises as a subsidiary of Gala Corp. As of 2011, they operate seven Applebee's Restaurants.
