Many residents enjoy living in Skokie because of the wealth of resources in the area. When it comes to child care centers and preschools, this truth holds, as there are a number of high quality programs from which to choose. While it’s vitally important to visit multiple child care centers, interview the directors, and observe the programs to determine what is the right fit for your family, if you need help getting started Illinois Action for Children provides child care referrals according to your family’s needs.

To see if you qualify for financial assistance, you may complete an IDHS Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) Form, a Child Care Scholarship application at Niles Township, and, for Jewish families, an online application for a voucher from JUF Right Start.

Please note that both private and public preschools for children ages 3-5 in the state of Illinois are tuition-based; however, some Skokie schools and child care centers offer free Preschool for All and Head Start programs for children who are at risk for academic failure. You may inquire at each school or by calling Illinois Action for Children at 312.823.1100.
