Palm Avenue is an important part of northern Woodland. You might even call it a keystone, because it is the street that intersects Beamer Circle Park between West Keystone Avenue and East Keystone Avenue. Together with 3rd Street and Coloma Way, it also forms a thoroughfare leading all the way through town, from the northern border to south of town. It's also the only street in Woodland other than East Street, West Street, and Beamer Street that has the power to change street names that pass through it by adding a compass direction to the names - although East Keystone Avenue and West Keystone Avenue are the only streets thus affected by it.

Palm Avenue runs between Kentucky Avenue and Beamer Street. Palm Avenue becomes 3rd Street when it passes south of Beamer Street. 3rd Street becomes Coloma Way when it passes south of Granada Drive.

From north to south, Palm Avenue intersects Shiloh Court (which heads east only from Palm Avenue), Lexington Way (east only), Ariel Way (west only), Laura's Alley (west only), Woodland Avenue, Hollister Road, and the roundabout with Beamer Circle Park in the middle of it. Along the way, it also passes Beamer Park.

Palm Avenue has been planted with street trees by the city. The street trees include the invasive weed species Canary Island Palm (Phoenix canariensis), as well as one species native to Woodland: Valley Oak (Quercus lobata). Other non-native street trees on Palm Avenue include Maidenhair Tree (Ginkgo biloba), Prairie Crabapple (Malus ioensis 'Prairiefire'), Austrian Black Pine (Pinus nigra), Chinese Pistache (Pistacia chinensis), London Plane (Platanus × hispanica), Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Idaho Locust (Robinia × ambigua 'Idahoensis'), and English Elm (Ulmus minor 'Atinia').
