Originally known as downtown Normal before the very recent renovation, Uptown Normal is the former commercial district of Normal located on the east side of Illinois State University. The area was recently rejuvenated to beautify the area to make a more enjoyable area for people to be around. Although now a gathering place for both city residents and Students of the university, Uptown has turned into a more child (and pet) friendly environment that has become greatly appreciated by all residents. With a beatification of older buildings, the tearing down of dated structures, and new structures such as the recognizable Round About place in the center of uptown, where families and dogs a like can be found enjoying the soft patch of green grass and running water stream on any sunny day. it is hardly recognizable to long-time citizens. The newest addition to Uptown Normal is Uptown Station. Uptown station offers transportation services of many kinds. Including, Amtrak, Greyhound, Connect Transit, and taxi services.
