Where do you see future housing expansion occurring for group living, such as the potential for a fraternity and sorority row, in order to meet existing and future needs?

  • Lamar Heystek: If the group consists of university students, I would prefer the housing located as close to campus as possible and near bus lines. My preference is the Core Area.
  • Rob Roy: I have had meetings with Sue Greenwald about this issue and she has talked to me about Tandem Properties dislike of group housing. Particularly Greek housing but I understand it to be a real issue. I am a progressive but I believe in supply and demand economics. So I would like there to be a section of West Village that includes group housing. I know this is not within city limits but the city could, of course, work together with university to plan the community.
  • Michael Levy: The best place for a Greek Row would probably be on campus. The university has the land available, and the cost of acquisition off campus could otherwise make it prohibitive to build or occupy by most students.
  • Ruth Asmundson: I believe that the need for fraternity and sorority housing needs to be addressed by UCD. Davis will have a sufficient struggle providing housing for our employees and others who desire permanent residence.
  • Stan Forbes: I would locate a future fraternity/sorority row on the university's West Village project.
