John J. Pedroni was an optometrist and a local civic leader. He was the son of Henry Pedroni. They had a business together at 47 Broadway.

John J. Pedroni dies

SARANAC LAKE - John J. Pedroni, 75, a retired optometrist and local civic leader, died yesterday at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

Mr. Pedroni had been a Saranac Lake resident for 69 years, setting up his optometric office in 1927. He retired in 1974 from his office in the Thompson Building on Broadway.

Mr. Pedroni was also past president of the Saranac Lake Rotary Club and a past board member of the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.

The Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 1 for 25 years, he was honored in 1955 by that organization's Adirondack Council with the Silver Beaver Award, the, highest honor that a local Council can bestow upon scout officials.

He was also president of the Pine Ridge Cemetery Association for 20 years and a member of the Northern New York Optometric Association.

Mr. Pedroni was born Dec. 27, 1905 in New York City, the son of Henry and Giustina (Ponzini) Pedroni.

Survivors include his wife, the former Augusta Still, who he married Sept. 14, 1946; two sons, William of Arcadia, Calif., and John Jr., of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Kay Neveau of Norfolk, N.Y., and five grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation will be in Troy, with private graveside services to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery here.

Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Tri-Lakes Humane Society in his memory.
