Oldest Resident Dies

A solemn requiem high mass for Mrs. Marguerite LaPointe DeLisle, 93, who was Saranac Lake's oldest resident, was said Wednesday morning.

Rev. Charles Kitts, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Ross Garnsey, assistant pastor, and Rev. Joseph Blais, pastor of St. Mary's church. Mrs. DeLisle, following an illness of several months, died at the home of her eldest daughter, Mrs. Richard E. Malloy.

Born in St. Charles, P. Q., January 10, 1843, she was married in Quebec City, Quebec, in 1861, to Joseph DeLisle. They removed to Saranac Lake in 1888, from Ausable Forks. They came to this country shortly after their marriage and resided in West Plattsburg before making their home in Ausable Forks.

Mrs. DeLisle had 107 descendants. In addition to seven children she is survived by 47 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. DeLisle's children, besides Mrs. Malloy are: Nelson P. DeLisle, Felix Q. DeLisle, Mrs. Fred C. Lamy, Mrs. William DeMerse and Mrs. M. M. Munn, all of Saranac Lake, and Mrs. George L. Hooley of Albany.


AuSable Forks Record Post, April 30, 1936

Mrs. Marguerite DeLisle, 93, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Richard B. Mallory [sic], 31 Lake street. The funeral services were held in St. Bernard's Catholic church and burial took place in Pine Ridge cemetery.
