New York State public campgrounds located in the Saranac Lake area:
- Buck Pond, Onchiota
- Fish Creek and Rollins Pond, four miles south west of Saranac Inn on New York Route 30
- Meadowbrook Campground, Ray Brook
- Saranac Lake Islands Campground, on Lower and Middle Saranac Lake, administered from the Second Pond state boat launch four miles southwest of Saranac Lake on New York Route 30.
New York State also operates a children's conservation camp, Camp Colby, on Lake Colby, at Camp Intermission, the former residence of theatrical agent William Morris.
