Fruitvale Station (neighborhood) appears to be another one of those "neighborhoods" created by the real estate community that nobody actually considers to be a true neighborhood. It is a small area that surrounds the Fruitvale BART station -- and most people would say that it is just part of the larger neighborhood called the Fruitvale District. Even more confusing, this neighborhood does not include a neighboring shopping center known as Fruitvale Station that replaced a long-closed Del Monte cannery.
