As usual, half of the Ann Arbor City Council is up for election this year, with the bonus of the Mayoral seat. Politicos continue to frame this race, as in past years, as a challenge to Mayor John Hieftje's Council majority, even though few of the races target incumbents.

City of Ypsilanti
As in Ann Arbor, the Ypsilanti City Council elections have been framed by some as part of an ongoing uprising against the Council majority.
